The 2024 Chardonnay (Sonoma Coast) is a terrific introduction to the range. Apricot, white flowers, mint, white pepper and tangerine oil are nicely pushed forward. I was blown away by the wines I tasted this year from Flowers and longtime Winemaker Chantal Forthun. The Chardonnays in particular are magnificent. Then again, Chardonnay does so well here, high atop the majestic ridges of Fort Ross-Seaview. In recent years, Forthun has started to introduce larger-format oak, which works so well in letting the wines breathe. Pinot Noir, done with fully destemmed fruit, is also terrific, but at the end of the day, the Chardonnays really carry the day.
